AI strategy for tyre production at Continental Barum
For the Process Engineering division in Otrokovice, we built a portfolio of 26 concrete AI use cases and a roadmap separating quick wins from strategic projects.
The question was not where AI could be used, but where it makes real economic sense. It was preceded by weeks of interviews with process engineers and managers across key production areas and an analysis of real production data: specifications, machine data and defect history.
Each use case was assessed for complexity, benefit and economic impact, ranging from reporting through predictive models to agentic systems. Already moving into practice: machine-learning evaluation of the vulcanisation process, photo-based defect classification and AI support for mould design.

…despite the high complexity of our production processes, we gained a concrete and clear AI strategy built on real use cases of our division, not on theoretical promises.
